Lumen House

Project Background

Lumen House is an adaptive reuse of the 1892 Holy Redeemer Catholic School to provide new student housing. The project included the extensive restoration of the existing Romanesque Revival style building and a new addition to the west (historic back) of the school. The addition houses an elevator and an emergency stair which provide handicap access to barrier free apartments. This project is a 2015 Madison Trust for Historic Preservation winner.
