Preservation and Restoration
ICA is a leader in the preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of our nation’s built treasures. We have successfully worked with SHPO, NPS, NRHP, Saving America’s Treasure Grant, Secretary of the Interior’s Standards, Tax Credits, and building material analysis. Our staff exceeds the requirements for the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for Historic Architecture.

Adaptive Reuse
At ICA we believe the best sustainable design is to take an existing building and reuse it in a new way. ICA has converted existing buildings into apartments, athletic facilities, hotels, churches, office buildings, breweries, charter schools, and clinics.
Project Management
Providing clear communication throughout a project keeps projects on target for scope, schedule, and budget. We will establish mutually agreed-upon communication intervals and protocols in order to deliver regular project status updates. We bring together all stakeholders to build consensus and meet project goals.

Comprehensive Building Envelope Analysis & Design
With a scientific and forensic approach, our building envelope specialists evaluate enclosure technologies, moisture-related building failures, and design problems. Our team can provide envelope analysis and design, as well as remedial strategies to promote the wellbeing of our buildings and their inhabitants. Campus/Facility Planning for Building Envelope Maintenance
ICA develops programs for managing full campus and multi-building facilities. We are managing a campus with over 40 buildings to help them in annual building enclosure maintenance of all their buildings. We review each facility’s roofing, wall, window, and door assets in order to provide a clear strategy for repair timelines and treatments. Then we assist in prioritization of needs with available funding through capital budget planning. We have worked with a wide range of clients from institutions with large building inventories to single companies that are spread across the country.
Interior Design
From multi-million-dollar renovations to new spaces, ICA helps with all interior design needs. Our expertise ranges from school interiors, offices, libraries, athletic facilities, breweries, restaurants, and retail. We will develop an interior palette to fit individual client’s aesthetic preferences while providing the appropriate quality and durability required of the project with a strong understanding of meeting the budget.
Construction Observation and Administration
Our projects are diverse; there is not a set protocol for construction observation and administration. We will work with each project owner to provide the appropriate coverage during construction. This can mean visits only at defined milestones to a full-time process. We can even develop project-specific trainings for material handling of historic materials. Our goal is for successful communication between clients, contractors, and our design team.
