InSite Consulting Architects Announces the opening of its Washington, DC Office, and Names Gretchen Pfaehler as its Managing Director

InSite Consulting Architects (ICA) today announced the opening of its Washington, DC office. ICA Preservation Architect, Gretchen Pfaehler will serve as the DC office Managing Director.

Her expertise and understanding of the local DC landscape and sensitivity to community impacts, coupled with her ability to navigate preservation laws, review processes, and regulations will ensure ICA’s core values are extended throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond.”

Gretchen Pfaehler joined ICA in 2022 as Director and Preservation Architect. Pfaehler is a long-time Washington DC resident, with over three decades of experience in the preservation, restoration, and renovation of historic buildings and landscapes around the world. She serves on the DC Historic Preservation Review Board and is the Vice President of the Potomac River Boat Club Foundation in Georgetown. Some of Pfaehler’s local institutional clients include The Architect of the Capitol, Smithsonian Institution, National Gallery of Art, and the National Park Service. Additionally, she works with many local, private, and design-build contractor clients located and headquartered in the DC metro area. Pfaehler is experienced with review approvals and documentation with many federal state regulatory and review commissions, including the National Capitol Planning Commission, the Commission of Fine Arts, and the DC SHPO.
